Wings, Flap mechanism, Aileron Bellcrank
Flap Mechanism
I made a cardboard template of the fuselage wing attachment points in order to alight the flap mechanism correctly, then drilled the actuation levers to the torque tube. I still need to ream them to final size. I then connected the flap retention springs.
The picture below is of a template showing the āVā that the flap cable needs to run through.
Aileron Bellcrank
I assembled the bellcrank and rod with the rod end bearings, then made a list of the hardware I need to order for installation.
Flap and Aileron hinge Bearings
I used sandpaper to remove the paint from inside the machined holes, then pressed the bearing into place. They are easily pressed in with fingers. The first one I need to extract and remove more paint as it was too tight.
I then realized that there some parts I needed for the right wing that were packed in a box inside the left wing, which was bolted inside the bottom steel crate. Fortunately I was able to lie on the floor and reach inside the wing with a box cutter, and cut into the box, then extract the parts (pulley cable retainers).
